The title, the rivalry and the Invincibles

On 25 April 2004, Arsenal travelled across North London knowing that they were just one point away from becoming Premier League champions.

There was only one problem for Tottenham Hotspur: the Gunners were about to celebrate their greatest domestic achievement in the home of their fiercest rivals.

Arsène Wenger's side had gone 33 league matches without defeat. Chelsea's loss to Newcastle earlier that day meant a draw at White Hart Lane would be enough to secure the title with four matches still to play.

A perfect start for Arsenal

The visitors needed just three minutes to take the lead.

After defending a Tottenham corner, Arsenal launched a devastating counterattack. Thierry Henry carried the ball forward, Dennis Bergkamp delivered the decisive cross and Patrick Vieira finished the move.

In the 35th minute, Robert Pires doubled Arsenal's advantage after another flowing move involving Bergkamp and Vieira.

At half-time, Arsenal led 2-0. The title looked comfortably within reach.

Tottenham refuse to surrender

The second half told a different story.

Jamie Redknapp pulled a goal back with a long-range strike in the 62nd minute, giving Tottenham renewed hope.

Arsenal had chances to restore their two-goal advantage but Spurs remained in the contest.

Deep into stoppage time, Robbie Keane converted a penalty to make it 2-2.

Tottenham had completed their comeback. But the equaliser could not prevent what happened next.

Champions on enemy territory

When the final whistle sounded, Arsenal were Premier League champions.

For the second time in their history, the Gunners had secured the league title at White Hart Lane. They had previously achieved the feat in 1971.

The 2003/04 season would become even more remarkable. Arsenal completed all 38 Premier League matches without a single defeat, earning their place in football history as The Invincibles.

Tottenham had rescued a point in the derby. Arsenal had won something far greater.

And they had done it at the home of their biggest rivals.
